Upadated on: 30 Jul 10 05:12 AM
Staff Report

MUZAFFARABAD: Sardar Atiq Ahmed has taken oath as the new Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in President's House on Thursday.

The outgoing PM Raja Farooq Haider among 10 other assembly members boycotted the voting.

The session of Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Shah Ghulam Qadir.

Sardar Atiq secured 39 votes.

The outgoing PM Raja Farooq Haider said that he advised to summon Assembly session on Aug 6 but the President AJK Raja Zulqurnain has ignored his suggestion unconstitutionally.

Sardar Atiq Ahmed was removed from the post of premiership 18 months ago on the basis of no confidence motion, similarly Sardar Yaqoob Khan and Raja Farooq Haider lost their designations ahead of no-confidence move.

Sardar Atiq is the fourth person to assume charge of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir in four years. SAMAA
